This beautiful stone angel is perched on a wonderful old building in a southern city. I have visited there many times before but never saw her. As my husband and I were leaving the city, I caught a glimpse of her from the car as we turned onto a busy street corner. As though in slow motion, the street noise suddenly seemed to be silenced as I turned my head back to gaze at her in amazement. She appeared as a silent watcher or sentinel over the city. Yet in that silence, her presence was made known.
