Hemerocallis is the scientific name for day lily. Daylily is made up of two Greek words which mean "day and beauty.
Although each individual flower lasts only one day, the lily is fairly drought tolerant and can survive with very little care.
Their beautiful blooms showcase from late spring until autumn.
As I was walking in my garden near the end of the day, I noticed these lilies blooming together like two great friends visiting.
I decided to pause and enjoy their beauty.
As the day faded, their rich yellow color inspired me to capture their short debut in a painting.
